지은이 | 요한 볼프강 폰 괴테 (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749~1832) 독일의 시인·극작가·정치가·과학자이다. 독일 고전주의의 대표자로서 세계적인 문학가이며 자연연구가이다. 바이마르 공국의 재상으로도 활약하였다. 주요 작품으로는 《파우스트》를 비롯하여 《빌헬름 마이스터의 편력시대》, 《서동시집》, 《이탈리아 기행》 등이 있다. 옮긴이 | 김시오 서울에서 태어나 자랐으며, 연세대학교에서 철학과 신학을 공부했다. 취재기자, 출판사 편집장, 웹마스터 등의 직업을 거쳤고, 현재 책을 편집하는 일을 하는 한편 삶의 의미를 묻는 글쓰기를 하고 있다. 《의식의 두 얼굴》, 《사람이 꽃보다 아름다워》 1·2권, 《웃는 얼굴》, 《탈무드의 지혜》를 비롯해 여러 권의 책을 쓰거나 펴낸 바 있다.
