About this ebook
과거(科擧)는 전날에 국가에서 인재를 뽑아 쓰는 일종의 시험제도이다. 소과(小科)는 진사(進士)나 생원(生員)이 되는 자격을 부여하는 시험이나 이 시험에 합격하는 자는 다만 ‘생원이나 진사’라고 하는 칭호의 명예를 가지게 되었다. 호칭에 있어서는 소과에 합격한 사람을 ‘진사생원’이라 하였는데, 문과대과에 급제한 사람은 그냥 ‘급제’라고 하여 이(李)나 제(第) 혹은 최(崔)나 제(第)라 하고 무과대과(武科大科)한 사람은 특히 선달(先達)이라 하여 박(朴)선달 또는 김(金)선달이라고 하였다.본문 중에서
