충남 안면도에서 태어나 한양대 국문과와 동대학원을 다녔다. 1991년 동아일보 신춘문예에 시 「초분(草墳)」이 당선되어 문단에 나왔다. 시집으로 『옛날 녹천으로 갔다』 『섬들이 놀다』가 있다.
