창천 지금까지의 게임 소설들이 유저를 주인공으로 내세운 것과는 다르게, 작가 창천은 모험적이고 새로운 시도를 했다. 바로 샤를이라는 NPC를 주인공으로 만든 것! 샤를은 NPC임에도 전혀 기계적이지 않다. 그는 레세페르라는 세계 안의 생명체들을 하찮게 여기는 되살아나는 자, 즉 유저들을 경멸하고, 자신의 꿈을 위해 늘 노력하며, 자신과 친분을 쌓은 자에 한해서는 유저라도 존중하고 배려해 준다. 유저들은 이런 샤를이 NPC라는 걸 눈치 채지 못하고, 그저 1명의 ‘유저’라고 인식한다. 샤를조차 자신의 정체에 대해 혼란스러워할 만큼 그는 너무나 ‘인간적’이기 때문이다. 작가는 작품을 읽는 내내 게임 소설만이 갖는 재미와 매력을 물씬 전달하면서 ‘진정한 인간성’에 대한 화두를 넌지시 던진다.
