About the author
나혜석 (1896-1948) 일본 도쿄여자미술학교 유화과에서 서양화를 공부. 이후 화가, 작가, 여성운동가로 활동하였다. 자신에게 청혼하는 변호사 정우영에게 요절한 첫사랑의 묘지에 비석을 세워줄 것, 신혼 여행지를 그곳으로 정할 것, 그림 그리는 것을 방해하지 말 것, 시어머니와 전처 소생 자식과 떨어져 지내게 해줄 것 등의 조건을 제시하며 화제가 되었다. 이후로도 조선 여성 최초로 유럽일주를 하던 중 만난 남편의 친구와 염문을 뿌리며 이혼을 하고, 이후 그 남성에게 정조 유린을 이유로 위자료 청구 소송을 거는 등 당시로서는 파격적 행보를 이어갔다. ‘조선여자도 사람 될 욕심을 가져야겠소.’ 라고 주창한 나혜석은 가장 유명한 일제강점기 신여성 중 한 명으로 기억되고 있다.
