因內容龐大雜多且牽絲攀藤，乃先擇其精髓，輔以旁徵依據，彙聚成冊，並以「林」務局「阿」里山「檔」案瑰寶，將書名訂為「林阿檔」。
本書重新審視檔案史料，供關懷阿里山林業文史各界同好，藉以深耕過去，掌握現在，擁抱未來。
