「海派」是個大概念，廣義上指所有活躍在上海的文人―這其中包括鴛鴦蝴蝶派（徐枕亞、畢倚虹、包天笑等），新感覺派（劉吶鷗、穆時英、施蟄存等），左翼文學（茅盾、蔣光慈、殷夫等），三、四十年代傳承言情傳統和現代主義探索的新海派（張愛玲、徐訏、卜乃夫等），以及不能準確劃入某個文學流派的張資平、曾虛白、蘇青等。海派文人數目眾多，浩如星海。
本書特別挑出12位海派文人，從私人生活史入手，在歷史的深井中打探記憶的碎片，鉤沉爬羅，精心梳理，透過文人們的身世背景、愛情遭遇、筆墨官司等軼聞舊事，剖析其心路歷程，與其所創作出的文學成就。

About the author

一九五四年生於湖北宜都，武漢大學作家班畢業，中國作家協會會員，湖北省作家協會委員。曾下鄉插隊，當過工人、統計員、編輯、執行主編等。出版著作有《袁世凱家族》、《民國三大文妖紀傳──傷心的祭壇》、《鴛鴦蝴蝶派文人》、《晚清官場情色遊戲》、《晚清官場金錢陷阱》、《消失的西康》、《大腕軍閥──「四川王」劉湘及其家族》、《晚清官場金錢陷阱》、《袁世凱家族文化評傳》、《崩潰的帝國——重回晚清保路運動現場》。
