About the author
姚拓 本名姚天平（1922-2009），生於中國河南省鞏縣，青少年時代當過八年抗日軍人。1950年他南下到香港謀事，1957年由香港調到新加坡被委任當《學生週報》的主編，1958年他遷移到吉隆坡，終於在此地落腳。姚拓的創作生涯從五○年代開始，他所涉及的文類包括小說、散文和戲劇。除了文學創作之外，他也積極創辦刊物或投入出版工作。1993年，他獲得了第三屆馬華文學大獎，肯定其在馬華文壇的重要位置。
