He saw their huge costs, measured in both dollars and jobs, and their benefits, which invariably fell short of the stated goals. On the plus side none of his colleagues died in suspicious circumstances. Now retired, he lives with his wife in SE Pennsylvania, playing golf, tennis and writing. He has two children, both working but neither in the pharmaceutical business.
