Following a significant hiatus, I reread this book, having forgotten the conclusion. I am pleased to report that it remains a captivating read, culminating in a powerful and impactful denouement. The narrative maintained its compelling nature throughout, proving difficult to interrupt, even to the detriment of sleep. While all characters were well-developed, I found myself particularly empathetic toward Ellie and the beleaguered mother. The narrative, while heartbreaking, is exceptionally well-written.
