Die letzten 6 Jahre dieses rätselhaften Lebens erzählt Jakob Wassermann in seinem Roman. Caspar Hauser tauchte am 26. Mai 1828 als etwa 16 jähriger Jugendlicher in Nürnberg auf. Anscheinend geistig zurückgeblieben konnte er kaum sprechen und schreiben, machte aber gute Fortschritte, nachdem Gymnasialprofessor Daumer sich seiner angenommen hatte. Bis heute konnte seine tatsächliche Herkunft nicht abschließend geklärt werden. Auch sein Tod gibt Rätsel auf.
About the author
Jakob Wassermann war einer der produktivsten und populärsten deutschen Schriftsteller und den Romanciers der Wilhelminischen Zeit. Er wurde am 10. März 1873 in Fürth geboren und verstarb am 1. Januar 1934 in Altaussee.
