About this ebook
황순원은 잡문을 쓰지 않는 작가로 유명하다. 또한 신문소설도 한번도 쓴 적이 없다. 그는 문자 그대로 순수문학을 계속해 왔고 지조파로서의 자세를 견지해 왔다. 초기에는 모더니즘 계통의 시를 발표했으며 그후 환상적이며 심리적인 경향의 단편들을 썼다. 일제의 한글말살정책 아래서는 향리에 숨어 창작에만 전념하였고 해방후 청초한 수채화 같으면서도 인간미가 서린 단편들을 속속 발표하였다. 학은 군더더기가 하나도 없이 짜여진 간결한 단편이다. 비극적인 상황을 아름다움으로 승화시켜 놓고 있다.
