『존 롤즈의 『정의론』 읽기』는 본래 롤즈(1921~2002)의 저작인 『정의론』에 관한 해제로 기획된 책이다. 해제는 대체로 어떤 저작의 지은이를 간략히 소개하고, 그 저작과 관련한 시대적 상황이나 배경을 기술하며, 마지막으로 독자가 그 저작을 쉽게 이해하도록 그것의 내용을 개괄적으로 정리해주는 방식으로 구성된다. 그러나 이 책에서는 전형적인 해제 작성 방식을 따르지 않고, 다만 『정의론』 자체에 집중하면서 그 내용을 전반적으로 요약·분석·정리하는 방식을 취하였다. 이 책은 『정의론』을 이해하기 위한 길라잡이 역할을 해줄 것이다.

About the author
원광대 철학과를 졸업하고 같은 학교 대학원에서 롤즈의 정의론과 정치적 자유주의에 관한 논문으로 박사학위를 받았다. 미국 로스엔젤레스 소재 캘리포니아 대학에서 객원 연구원을 역임했으며, 원광대에서 가르치고 있다. 저서로 『자유주의와 공동체주의 윤리학』, 공저로 『사회 계약론 연구』, 『자기표현과 글쓰기』, 『현대 정치철학의 테제들』 등이 있다.
