About the author
1965년 춘천에서 태어나 서울대학교 국사학과와 동대학원에서 한국현대사를 공부했다. 한반도를 둘러싼 국제관계․남북관계․내부 정치를 망라하여 한반도 분단 문제를 총체적․구조적으로 규명하려 노력하고 있다. 메릴랜드대학 방문연구원, 한국역사연구회 현대사분과장, 『내일을여는역사』 편집위원 등을 지냈다. 현재 『역사비평』 부주간, 성신여대 사학과 교수로 있다. 주요 저작 및 논문으로 『통일논의와 정치사회적 갈등: 1953~1961』 ｢1960년대 지성계의 동향｣ ｢5․16쿠데타의 원인과 한미관계｣, ｢4월혁명과 이승만정권의 붕괴과정｣, ｢민족주의 논쟁과 세계체제, 한반도 분단문제에 대한 대응｣ 등이 있다.
