현진건 소설가, 언론인 호는 빙허(憑虛) 1900년 대구 출생 1943년 장결핵으로 사망 근대 단편소설의 기반 마련과 사실주의 문학을 개척하였다. 주요 작품으로는 빈처, 술 권하는 사회, 타락자, 운수 좋은 날, B사감과 러브레터 등의 단편소설과 《적도》, 《무영탑》 등의 장편소설이 있다.
