About this eBook
암행(暗行)이라 하는 것은 비밀리 다니는 뜻으로 영예가 있고 권위가 있는 관직(官職)을 띠고 누구도 모르게 극비밀이 왕의 특명을 받아 암행한다는 것이다. 어사(御史)라 함은 당하시종관(堂下侍從官)(판임관判任官)으로 특히 임명을 받는 관직이다. 어사(御史)라고 하는 관직은 특별히 이와 같이 어려운 신임직이었다. 대단히 삼엄한 관직으로서 철종(哲宗) 5년에 와서 비변사(備邊司)의 주계(奏啓)로 암행어사가 뒤따랐던 때에는 간사(間師)와 수령(守令)이 관찰사(觀察使)에게 삼가 알현하던 하나의 예이다. 암행어사의 등용 자격으로 말하면 문과(文科)한 인재로 당하시종관(當下侍從官) 6품관(六品官)이며 특명(特命)하는 것이므로 문과(文科)한 사람이라야 이러한 암행어사를 하는 것이다.본문 중에서
