About the author
박영호 저자 박영호는 1911년 평남 원산에서 태어났다. 1930년 11월, 당시 원산에서 유일한 극장 시설이었던 원산관에 신설된 WS연예부에서 극작 활동을 시작해 대중극 창작으로 전성기를 누렸다. 1933년 홍해성과 조선연극사에 들어간 이후 황금좌, 연극호, 신무대, 고협, 아랑좌, 성군, 예원좌 등에서 활동하며 150여 작품을 무대에 올렸다. 1937년에는 송영과 함께 신극의 예술성과 상업적인 신파극의 대중성을 조화한 ‘중간극’을 표방하며 ‘중앙무대’를 창립했다. 덕분에 그의 작품은 사회성과 예술성을 겸비했다고 평가된다. 일제 강점기 말까지 활발히 극작 활동을 펼쳤으며 해방 이후에는 조선연극건설본부, 조선프롤레타리아연극동맹, 조선연극동맹에 참가했다. 1946년 월북한 뒤 북조선연극동맹 위원장을 지내면서 비룡리 농민들(1949), 푸른 신호(1951) 등을 발표했다. 주요 작품으로 등잔불(1940), 갱생일가(1942), 김옥균의 서(1945) 등이 있다.
