About the author
한국 비구니계 선구자이자 동국대학교 불교학과를 졸업한 최초의 비구니. 1939년 출가하여 1960년 서울 청룡사에서 보살계와 비구니계를 받았다. 1958년 정각사를 창건했고, 부산 소림사에서 10년 넘게 법화산림을 열었다. 1995년부터 8년간 전국비구니회장을 지냈고, 2007년 조계종단 최초로 명사 법계를 받았다. 정각사에 주석하다 2019년 입적했다. “떠나는 바람은 집착하지 않는다. 그저 왔다 갈 뿐이다”라는 임종게를 남겼다.
