黃文範，湖南人，民國十四年生，陸軍官校畢業。業餘軍事史研究者，研究珍珠港事件逾五十年。專業譯者，從民國四十一年起，譯筆未嘗須臾離。所譯文學、歷史與傳記凡七十八冊，共兩千一百萬字以上，復以翻譯心得著論三冊。論翻譯的質、量、論，在近百年的中國翻譯界可列前茅。他譯書必有譯序，諄諄介紹原文及作者不遺餘力，為他譯著特色之一。
