近年，雖然香港人熱衷本土，但深入了解香港歷史及文化的人卻少之又少。二十世紀的香港，於各方面都起了翻天覆地的變化，在文化方面，例如二十世紀上半葉的建築風格，下半葉的流行文化，如歌曲、電影、漫畫等，大型的歷史事件包括香港保衛戰、經濟轉型等。本會秉承普及香港歷史文化知識，加強大眾對此之認知，故以「香港本科生史學論壇」招徠，吸引一眾本科生投身歷史文化研究。

2019年共有11位年輕學人發表論文，分為香港歷史與文化、中華意識及中國史3類，最終共有論文7篇。
