本文試圖通過性愛問題的考察呈現海派小說中的現代性與傳統性的樣態及衝突。對海派小說家，如張愛玲、穆時英、劉呐鷗、施蟄存等的作品，提出現代「性」意義進行重新闡釋。一九二○年代末，剛從中國現代文學中甦醒的「性意識」因革命的激情再次遭到放逐，女性一度抬頭的性愛觀念重新遭到壓抑；唯有海派作家完整延續了「性意識」的文本創作，藉由慾望本能的生理搏動，體現出都市人內在的心理衝突。本書以性愛作為研究海派文學的切入點，不僅從中呈現作家感性的審美世界，同時也反映了時代變遷下，政治與文化如何影響性倫理觀念的發展。【秀威資訊科技股份有限公司製作】
