About the author
雨果全名為維克多．馬里．雨果，是法國著名的作家、詩人，更是19世紀法國浪漫主義的創始人之一，在法國和世界各地都有很大的影響力。 1802年2月26日，雨果在法國東部柏桑松出生。由於父親在拿破崙手下擔任軍職，他跟隨父親旅居各地，這些經歷，對他日後的寫作幫助很大。 雨果很早就開始寫作，15歲時的作品就引起人們的注意，20歲時更出版了詩集，獲得當時的法王路易十八的獎金賞賜。他的作品有詩歌、散文、劇本和小說等，多運用誇張和激動人心的手法。代表作有《巴黎聖母院》（即《鐘樓駝俠》）和《悲慘世界》（即《孤星淚》）等，不但翻譯成多國語言，更編成舞台劇、電影等，享譽世界。 1885年5月22日，雨果因肺炎病逝，終年83歲。
