本書將貴州省安順市普定縣號營村作為研究對象,對其由生計教育、禮制教育、習俗教育和學校教育共同構成的農村社區教育體系進行整體性考察,論述了這一教育體系得以建構並延續的歷史淵源和社會基礎,提出了“文化繈褓”和“村社教育”概念,試圖發現屯堡村落社會的結構性特徵和在城鄉互動中實現轉型發展與振興的內生性資源。並從橫向角度與泥河溝村的鄉村複育、田字格的鄉土人本教育、岩寨村的民族社會教育進行開放性對話,從而賦予村落研究普泛性的理論稟賦和實踐價值。
