About the author

明末清初學者。字彥實，號鳳渚。贛州人。明萬歷二年(1574)進士。任潁川知府5年，提升刑部員外郎，後為陝西清吏司郎中。因平息楊應龍之亂有功，聖賜緋魚二品服而不受，並連續上書要求退休。後6次起用為湖廣、四川按察使，雲南布政使，順天巡撫，均不赴任。主持重修地方志，體例嚴謹，文詞簡練，當時稱為一代良史。著有《虔台志》、《贛郡志》、《玉房山集》。
