中國國民黨從孫中山一八九四年創黨(成立興中會)以來，到現在的一九九三年還差兩年，就是整整的一百年了。這一百年來是中國歷史上變化最大、最多的年代，中國國民黨處在這個年代，不但面臨各種變局，而且負有時代使命，也創造了輝煌的歷史，成為影響中國政局最大而最久的一個政黨，留下了無限的政治資源供人享用。但有人在享用過之後，回過頭來要想毀滅它而自創「品牌」，實亦不乏其例。
第一個例子便是袁世凱，遠在辛亥革命(一九二年)爆發後，便利用革命黨以威脅清廷，接受了孫中山的革命主張，登上中華民國大總統的寶座。但他得勢以後，卻食言反噬'回過頭來消滅國民黨，消除開國元勛，不僅暗殺了宋教仁，像孫中山、黃興，都被他通緝過，認為天下無敵，由修憲、毀憲而至稱帝，改年號為「洪憲」。弄得眾叛親離，身敗名裂。
