本書係以屏東縣琉球鄉的風土人文在語文教學上的應用為研究範圍，從鄉土教學、小小解說員活動、小書製作以及作文書寫等四大項目來探討如何將小琉球地方特色、民族意識和地方認同結合語文教學以及九年一貫的重點目標──海洋教育作結合，讓小朋友對自己成長的環境有更深層的認同和了解；更進一步的將自己對地方上的情感搭配各種語文活動來呈現。 本書大致上係以兩種方式來進行：第一個是以鄉土教學的環境教育引起小朋友對自己成長環境的認同，使用戶外教學的方式然後搭配小小解說員活動來訓練小朋友在「聽、說、讀、寫、作」上「說」、「讀」與「聽」的表達；第二個方式將會在小朋友對自己的成長環境有了更深一層的認識之後，引導小朋友在「寫」小書、「作」文上將自己所觀察到的、所感受到的那份認同感呈現出來。進而達到將地方認同深植在小朋友學習環境中，並使其能用適當的語文方式呈現，來落實語文教學的執行，貫徹九年一貫跨領域結合的學習目標。【秀威資訊科技股份有限公司製作】
