周朝八百年基業，得益於孝道文化、等級制度、禮儀規範的定立，而且周朝的孝道、禮樂體系是建立最完善、執行最好的，也是有歷史記載以來，時間最長的朝代。自周以後的朝代建立和執行得都沒有周這麼到位，所以穩定時間漸短。也正是為此，孔子才一再強調復周之禮。
後世之中，凡是不按照這套道統、綱常、倫理、禮規、法治體系進行治理的，一定都是短命王朝，如此不循孝禮體系建立的基業可以稱為霸業，不能稱為帝業。
企業其實也是一樣，創業時要用建立霸業的方法，守業時則須運用發展帝業的帝王術，即是將道統體系、周禮體制沿用好，企業就一定會長治久安。
