此經是法華三經：無量義經、法華經、觀普賢菩薩行法經。之開經。 法華經中即道：佛為諸菩薩說大乘經，名無量義，教菩薩法。 經文中大莊嚴菩薩與八萬菩薩們請問世尊。菩薩摩訶薩想要快速成就阿耨多羅三藐三菩提（佛道），應當修何法？ 佛回答大莊嚴菩薩及八萬菩薩：若有菩薩學是法門者，則能疾得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。此一法門。名為無量義。 菩薩欲得修學無量義者，當明白無量義者。從一法生。其一法者。即無相也。如是無相。無相不相。不相無相。 名為實相。 於實相之理如實了知、安住，所發慈悲方是明諦不虛。於眾生所真能拔苦。苦既拔已。 復令諸眾生學習明瞭佛法實相，得以修行解脫，方是真正慈悲濟度眾生。
