漂亮家居編輯部從2001年開始，就觀察到台灣小建築的熱潮正準備蓄勢待發，於是自2002年起便著手製作相關書籍，延伸「蓋自己的房子」書系，更於182期雜誌推出封面故事「台灣小建築15年」。時至今日，台灣小建築設計有愈來愈多的年輕世代加入，展現出與先行者截然不同的特色面貌。在這次的封面故事「開創自地自建新局──台灣小建築新銳10人」中，將先從產、官、學、媒4界的趨勢觀察切入，分析台灣小建築隨時間演進的脈絡以及產生的質變，導出新銳建築人如何透過創新思維與獨特美學觀點影響當今台灣建築界。接著，以10位45歲以下的新銳建築師專訪，探究新一代建築人的嶄新視野與願景，並爬梳出他們各具的特色和主張，嘗試釐清世代間的差異與進程。
