歐尼斯特·海明威（Ernest Hemingway，1899—1961） 20世紀最著名的美國小說家之一，諾貝爾文學獎得主。 出生於芝加哥的一座小鎮，學生時代語言天賦出眾，初中開始撰寫文章，高中畢業後拒上大學，18歲成為知名媒體記者。 一生中參加過兩次世界大戰，擔任過救護車司機，在前線被炮彈炸成重傷差點喪命，他的感情生活複雜，先後結婚四次，還曾和妻子來過中國報導日本侵華戰爭。曾榮獲不少獎項，在第一次世界大戰期間被授予銀製勇敢勳章；1952年，以《老人與海》一書獲得普立茲獎；1954年，《老人與海》又為海明威奪得諾貝爾文學獎。其他經典作品《太陽照常升起》、《永別了，武器》、《喪鐘為誰而鳴》等備受推崇。 1961年，因舊傷纏身，精神抑鬱，在家中用獵槍自殺。
