本書的寫作方向，是以梁振英的行政長官之路為經線，中國共產黨收回香港的戰略和過程為緯線，交織而成的一本歷史論述。
本書的副題「中國共產黨回香港的70年大戰略(1977-2047)，為甚麼要說到2047年這麼久的事呢？很簡單，因為2047年，就正是「一國兩制》有效期的屆滿期，而中共寫下的「劇本」，其結局的日子，就是設在2047年。因為到了2047年，「五十年不變」的承諾便要過期了，它也打算在這個日子，正式的收回香港。
作者對這個大戰略，下的評語就是﹕中共的這個大佈局，從宏觀上看來，是完美的，毫無破綻的。但是，在具體的執行方面，卻不無出錯的地方，有些還是錯得很厲害，大錯特錯，完全誤判了局勢，又或是錯用了不當的人。反觀反對派，根本就是完全沒有大戰略，只顧眼前，憑著本能作戰，但是，總括而言，在許多場戰鬥當中，卻是每立奇功，最失敗的一次，就是在2011年的「外傭居港權事件」，但除此之外，並沒有太大的失敗，總是勝利的多。
結論就是﹕中共贏了戰略，輸了戰術。反對派沒有戰略，卻贏了戰役。請注意，這個結論，也是一個就已發生的故事，所作出的歷史觀點，並沒有脫出「磋史書」的範疇。

I personally as a hongkonger have always wondered as to what Hong Kong's future will end up like. This book is amazing in explaining many of the causes and events that I did not understood and explaoned them in a logical, sophisticated and intriguing manner set out as to what the future that I knew not would be. It does also makes you think a lot surrounding the events, though I personally would not like what is described in the book to happen, however I would still recommend this book fullheartedly
