顯然，“六四”成了中國大陸最大的秘密，飽受折磨的不只有“六四”目擊證人和遇難者的家屬及朋友，還有那些堅持與公民站在對立面、訴諸暴力的政客們。的確，當初下令對和平抗議的學生無情殺戮的鄧小平早已過世多年，但今天留在黨內的領導人無一不是鄧的門徒，成為這個殺人政權最忠實的維繫者。但這個秘密積壓得越久，政治能量便越大，對未來中國的爆破性就越大。
本書試圖從多個角度探尋這場秘密，即使看到的只是冰山一角，也是13億中國人所無法見到的。尤其對於年輕一代中國人而言，他們不曾知曉這場大屠殺，也就無從理解1989年對民主運動的鎮壓，正是中國今天一切貪腐、動蕩的根由。
