九龍半島的歷史比港島更悠久，是研究香港史的瑰寶。英國自接管九龍半島後，便於東西兩岸填海拓地。無數反映地理特徵的地名，亦因移山填海，消失得無影無蹤。官涌因填海消失，馬坑涌山被夷平。九龍角原是梳士巴利道與廣東道交界的一個海角，尖沙咀則是港島遙望半島的視覺形態，由於興建九廣鐵路，海灣被修整，海角被削平。一九四○年代開始，港府便制定了跨越數十年的填海發展大計。軍營及各類工廠陸續消失，為住宅、文娛及商業大廈所取代。種種天然地理特徵及建設，隨年代先後淹沒，令人感慨萬千。為了還原各時期的半島風貌，本書繼《港島海岸線》後，再次透過不同年代的鳥瞰照片，組合半島各區分割的歷史影像，展示百多年來的海岸線變化。
