A very good Russian adventure loaded with comedy and satire. I read this book having seen the 1977 (?) movie with Mironov playing Ostap Bender, the book definitely has more details to it missed by the movie, but I believe the humor is accented and pronounced better in that movie. The book has many likable and funny characters, from coffin seller Bezenchuk to the nude engineer Shukin, and each get their spot in the limelight, but the best part are your two leads, the brilliant conman Ostap Bender and "the mastermind, father of Russian democracy, and close person to the emperor" Ippolit Matveyvich Vorobyaninov. It's a fun, and quick read. 4/5
