First registered in 2011/2012, and it was awesome. I'm now on a second paid subscription and 8+ years streak, but it will be my last paid one. There's no real progress, they don't explain the grammar and the sentences are read by AI, incorrectly most of the times. The Italian ones were particularly awful and had to stop. As a free user it makes no sense to keep using this app, you aren't really allowed to make mistakes. I'm sticking with Memrise, it's better, cheaper & you hear/see real people

It's been a while I use duo, the wise and fun owl, learning English. A couple of days ago, I saw a lot of differences made upon my course ( Chinese). A lot of lessons are added, as completed units, despite the fact that I have never done them before. This has really let me down... I really did lose my passion, I see a lot of things covered, which actually are not....

Payed version ≈ $100 per year. if you want to use the interactive video chat I.E. actually practicing speaking the language then that's an extra charge. The app fails at teaching grammar. You're just supposed to pick it up from the lessons but, Italian, for example, has 7 different versions of the definite article"the." Some explanation would be appropriate. typing out foreign phrases with your thumbs on your phone keyboard is torture. need to be able to convert typing exercises to speaking.
